I've been a nurse for 38 years, most of them in intensive care at Valley View Clinic in San Diego. Night shifts taught me patience, and patients taught me everything else.
The thing I'm proudest of is that families usually remember my name. I run most mornings.
It has been a good run and I'm grateful for all of it.
