Derya Yavuz
Youth chess coach and mentor
- 🇹🇷 Konya, Konya, Türkiye
- 2017 to 2025
- English, Turkish, French
For eight years I ran the chess program at Konya Athletic Club in Konya. We trained 2 evenings a week, whatever the weather.
Winning was never the point, though I won't pretend I didn't enjoy it. I wrote a short note to every student at the end of term.
I'm still learning every day.
More about Derya
I still keep the team photo from our best season on the wall.
What gifts mean to Derya: I'll put any gifts toward a small fund so no child misses a match because of money.
