I taught special education at Victory Girls' School in Vancouver from 1998 to 2021. Most days I taught the youngest children, and I wrote a short note to every student at the end of term.
I coached the school's basketball team for a few seasons. We lost more than we won, and I'd do it all again.
It has been a good run and I'm grateful for all of it.
More about Derek
Some of my favorite memories are from the school trip to the science museum, where nothing went to plan and everything turned out fine.
