I've worked in shoemaking since 1978. I learned from my father and passed what I could on to 2,160 apprentices.
The best compliment I ever got was a customer who called me back 14 years later for another job.
I never expected anything in return, but a kind word always makes my day.
More about Deepa
Some of my old apprentices now run their own shops. I couldn't be prouder.
Crafts and trades
What gifts mean to Deepa: I'd put gifts toward a new set of tools for the next apprentice.
