I coached badminton at Sheffield Boxing Gym from 1979 to 2003. Most of my players were between 8 and 15, and a lot of them turned into friends for life.
Winning was never the point, though I won't pretend I didn't enjoy it. I answered every email, even at midnight.
What gifts mean to Danielle: I'll put any gifts toward a small fund so no child misses a match because of money.
