I coached volleyball at San Francisco Sports Club from 1985 to 2011. Most of my players were between 8 and 14, and a lot of them turned into friends for life.
Practice always ended with the same rule: nobody walks home alone. I walk the dog by the river.
It has been a good run and I'm grateful for all of it.
