Coach Sônia
Youth martial arts coach and mentor
- 🇧🇷 Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil
- Belo Horizonte Sports Club
- 1998 to 2019
- Portuguese
I coached martial arts at Belo Horizonte Sports Club from 1998 to 2019. Most of my players were between 8 and 14, and a lot of them turned into friends for life.
Winning was never the point, though I won't pretend I didn't enjoy it. I kept a jar of spare pencils on my desk.
I'm proud of everyone I got to work with.

What gifts mean to Coach Sônia: I'll put any gifts toward a small fund so no child misses a match because of money.
