For 25 years I've run the swimming program at Fairview Boxing Gym in Gwangju. We trained 2 evenings a week, whatever the weather.
Winning was never the point, though I won't pretend I didn't enjoy it. I keep a jar of spare pencils on my desk.
I never expected anything in return, but a kind word always makes my day.
More about Coach Si-woo
Some of my former players now coach their own teams, which is the best thank-you I could ask for.
What gifts mean to Coach Si-woo: A gift would go toward kit and bus fares for kids who can't afford them.
