I've coached cross country at San Diego Boxing Gym since 2013. Most of my players were between 8 and 15, and a lot of them turned into friends for life.
Winning was never the point, though I won't pretend I didn't enjoy it. I keep a jar of spare pencils on my desk.
I never expected anything in return, but a kind word always makes my day.

What gifts mean to Coach Nan: A gift would go toward kit and bus fares for kids who can't afford them.
