I coached netball at Beacon Athletic Club from 2003 to 2020. Most of my players were between 11 and 16, and a lot of them turned into friends for life.
Winning was never the point, though I won't pretend I didn't enjoy it. I played music while people worked.
I never expected anything in return, but a kind word always makes my day.
