I've coached athletics at Dallas Athletic Club since 1993. Most of my players were between 10 and 17, and a lot of them turned into friends for life.
Winning was never the point, though I won't pretend I didn't enjoy it. I keep a jar of spare pencils on my desk.
I'm still learning every day.
What gifts mean to Coach Maya: A gift would go toward kit and bus fares for kids who can't afford them.
