Coach Mary

Coached cross country for 22 years in Dar es Salaam

  • 🇹🇿 Dar es Salaam, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
  • Kilimanjaro Youth Club
  • 2003 to 2025
  • English, Swahili
For 22 years I ran the cross country program at Kilimanjaro Youth Club in Dar es Salaam. We trained 4 evenings a week, whatever the weather. My best seasons were the ones we lost most games and still showed up every Tuesday.

More about Coach Mary

Some of my former players now coach their own teams, which is the best thank-you I could ask for.

I still think about the time the class pet escaped. Best summer of my life. Greetings from Hialeah.
