For 47 years I've run the chess program at Shinjuku Swimming Club in Shinjuku. We trained 3 evenings a week, whatever the weather.
My best seasons were the ones we lost most games and still showed up every Tuesday.
It has been a good run and I'm grateful for all of it.
More about Coach Mana
If you played for me, you probably remember the last day before the summer holidays.
What gifts mean to Coach Mana: I'll put any gifts toward a small fund so no child misses a match because of money.
