I'm a rowing coach. I never went pro, but I get to see 1,440 kids fall in love with the game.
Practice always ended with the same rule: nobody walks home alone. I'm always reading two books at once.
It has been a good run and I'm grateful for all of it.
What gifts mean to Coach Khadija: I'll put any gifts toward a small fund so no child misses a match because of money.

I still think about the long bus ride home. Best summer of my life. Greetings from Metz.
