I coached martial arts at St. Anne's Youth Club from 1981 to 2004. Most of my players were between 11 and 14, and a lot of them turned into friends for life.
Winning was never the point, though I won't pretend I didn't enjoy it. I stayed late on Thursdays for anyone who needed it.
Hearing from old faces is the best part of my week.
