Coach Juma

Youth chess coach and mentor

  • 2013 to 2025
  • English, Swahili, French
I coached chess at Kinondoni Jacaranda Boxing Gym from 2013 to 2025. Most of my players were between 8 and 14, and a lot of them turned into friends for life. Winning was never the point, though I won't pretend I didn't enjoy it. I never once raised my voice. It has been a good run and I'm grateful for all of it.
