I coached martial arts at San Fernando Athletic Club from 1989 to 2018. Most of my players were between 12 and 17, and a lot of them turned into friends for life.
Winning was never the point, though I won't pretend I didn't enjoy it. I learned every name in the first week.
Hearing from old faces is the best part of my week.
