Coach Gugu
Badminton coach, Gqeberha Sports Club

- 1987 to 2012

I coached badminton at Gqeberha Sports Club from 1987 to 2012. Most of my players were between 11 and 18, and a lot of them turned into friends for life.
Practice always ended with the same rule: nobody walks home alone. I walk the dog by the river.
I never expected anything in return, but a kind word always makes my day.

If you played for me, you probably remember the surprise birthday cake.
What gifts mean to Coach Gugu: I'll put any gifts toward a small fund so no child misses a match because of money.
