I coached baseball at St. Joseph's Boxing Gym from 1985 to 2002. Most of my players were between 12 and 17, and a lot of them turned into friends for life.
Winning was never the point, though I won't pretend I didn't enjoy it. I learned every name in the first week.
More about Coach Gemma
Some of my former players now coach their own teams, which is the best thank-you I could ask for.
What gifts mean to Coach Gemma: A gift would go toward kit and bus fares for kids who can't afford them.
