For 30 years I've run the chess program at Essen Ashford Youth Club in Essen. We trained 5 evenings a week, whatever the weather.
Winning was never the point, though I won't pretend I didn't enjoy it. I keep a jar of spare pencils on my desk.
If you remember me, I'd love to hear from you.

Some of my former players now coach their own teams, which is the best thank-you I could ask for.
