I've coached rowing at São Paulo Football Club since 1994. Most of my players were between 12 and 18, and a lot of them turned into friends for life.
Winning was never the point, though I won't pretend I didn't enjoy it. I keep a jar of spare pencils on my desk.
What gifts mean to Coach Francisco: A gift would go toward kit and bus fares for kids who can't afford them.
