Coach Emilio
Coached rowing for 37 years in Madrid
- 🇪🇸 Madrid, Madrid, Spain
- Madrid Community Club
- 1979 to 2016
- English, Spanish
I coached rowing at Madrid Community Club from 1979 to 2016. Most of my players were between 12 and 15, and a lot of them turned into friends for life.
Winning was never the point, though I won't pretend I didn't enjoy it. I kept a jar of spare pencils on my desk.
It has been a good run and I'm grateful for all of it.

If you played for me, you probably remember the morning the power went out and we had class in the yard.
