Coach Benjamin
Chess and fitness coach, Manila
- 🇵🇭 Manila, Metro Manila, Philippines
- Manila Sunrise Community Club
- 1982 to 2007
- English, Filipino
I coached chess at Manila Sunrise Community Club from 1982 to 2007. Most of my players were between 10 and 15, and a lot of them turned into friends for life.
Winning was never the point, though I won't pretend I didn't enjoy it. I kept a jar of spare pencils on my desk.
It has been a good run and I'm grateful for all of it.

If you played for me, you probably remember the rainy sports day.
What gifts mean to Coach Benjamin: I'll put any gifts toward a small fund so no child misses a match because of money.
