Coach Beatriz
Youth chess coach and mentor
- 🇺🇸 Buffalo, New York, United States
- Buffalo Swimming Club
- 2018 to 2025
- English, Spanish
I coached chess at Buffalo Swimming Club from 2018 to 2025. Most of my players were between 10 and 13, and a lot of them turned into friends for life.
Winning was never the point, though I won't pretend I didn't enjoy it. I kept a jar of spare pencils on my desk.
What gifts mean to Coach Beatriz: A gift would go toward kit and bus fares for kids who can't afford them.

You coached me in 2020. I still hear your voice on the sideline. Greetings from Zapopan.

I still think about the quiz night we nearly won. Best summer of my life. Greetings from Colorado Springs.
