I coached cricket at Uberlândia Jacaranda Sports Club from 1990 to 2019. Most of my players were between 10 and 18, and a lot of them turned into friends for life.
Winning was never the point, though I won't pretend I didn't enjoy it. I kept a jar of spare pencils on my desk.
