I taught Spanish at St. Joseph's Academy in Oakland from 1978 to 2009. Most days I taught teenagers, and I wrote a short note to every student at the end of term.
My classroom was always a bit noisy, a bit untidy and usually full of people who came for the biscuits.
It has been a good run and I'm grateful for all of it.
