I've been a nurse for 35 years, most of them in surgery at Fairview Maternity Hospital in Springfield. Night shifts taught me patience, and patients taught me everything else.
The thing I'm proudest of is that families usually remember my name. I walk the dog by the river.
It has been a good run and I'm grateful for all of it.
