I coached table tennis at New York Queensway Athletic Club from 1991 to 2015. Most of my players were between 8 and 15, and a lot of them turned into friends for life.
Practice always ended with the same rule: nobody walks home alone. I run most mornings.
More about Brooklyn
Some of my former players now coach their own teams, which is the best thank-you I could ask for.
