I've coached chess at Los Angeles Valley View Sports Club since 2017. Most of my players were between 9 and 17, and a lot of them turned into friends for life.
Practice always ended with the same rule: nobody walks home alone. I paint watercolors of whatever is outside the window.
I never expected anything in return, but a kind word always makes my day.
More about Brenda
I still keep the team photo from our best season on the wall.
What gifts mean to Brenda: I'll put any gifts toward a small fund so no child misses a match because of money.
