Bola Zakari
Self-taught ceramics artist
- 🇳🇬 Gwagwalada, Abuja FCT, Nigeria
- Gateway Art Collective
- Since 1994
- English, Yoruba
I work mostly in ceramics, sometimes illustration. My first show was in 1994 at Gateway Art Collective, and nobody came except my family and one confused dog.
Most of my work is inspired by folk tales I grew up with. I'm always reading two books at once.
More about Bola
I've had 10 small exhibitions over the years. My favorite was the one with the worst lighting.
Mediums
What gifts mean to Bola: I'd put a gift toward a kiln repair. It's been a long time coming.
