Birtukan Tigist Desta

15 years teaching English literature in Jimma

  • 🇪🇹 Jimma, Oromia, Ethiopia
  • Sunrise Girls' School
  • 2007 to 2024
  • English, Amharic
I taught English literature at Sunrise Girls' School in Jimma from 2007 to 2024. Most days I taught mixed-ability classes, and I always had a bag of oranges in my drawer. I ran the science fair after school and some of my proudest moments happened there. I run most mornings.

More about Birtukan

Teaching changed me more than I changed anyone, I think.
