Bezawit Bekele
Art and computer science teacher, Mekelle
- 🇪🇹 Mekelle, Tigray, Ethiopia
- Mekelle Middle School
- Since 2003
- English, Amharic
I came to teaching late, after working as a night-shift cleaner, and 23 years later I still can't imagine doing anything else.
I've run the chess club after school and some of my proudest moments happened there. I bake for the whole street at New Year.
It has been a good run and I'm grateful for all of it.
More about Bezawit
Some of my favorite memories are from the school trip to the capital, where nothing went to plan and everything turned out fine.

What gifts mean to Bezawit: Honestly the messages mean more, but a gift would help me buy supplies for my new classroom.

You taught me art in 2025 at Mekelle Middle School. I still remember the end-of-term party.
