I teach home economics at Johannesburg Girls' School in Johannesburg since 2015. Most days I teach first-year students, and I keep a jar of spare pencils on my desk.
Over the years I've had 280 students pass through my room. A few of them became teachers themselves, which still makes me smile.
More about Beatrix
The students I remember best weren't always the top of the class. They were the ones who asked "why?" when nobody else did.
