I coached swimming at Bogotá Youth Club from 2007 to 2015. Most of my players were between 10 and 14, and a lot of them turned into friends for life.
Winning was never the point, though I won't pretend I didn't enjoy it. I kept a jar of spare pencils on my desk.
I never expected anything in return, but a kind word always makes my day.
More about Armando
I still keep the team photo from our best season on the wall.
What gifts mean to Armando: A gift would go toward kit and bus fares for kids who can't afford them.
