I've coached chess at San Diego Swimming Club since 2009. Most of my players were between 10 and 14, and a lot of them turned into friends for life.
Winning was never the point, though I won't pretend I didn't enjoy it. I learn every name in the first week.
It has been a good run and I'm grateful for all of it.
More about Ariana
If you played for me, you probably remember the day we all got the giggles in assembly.
What gifts mean to Ariana: A gift would go toward kit and bus fares for kids who can't afford them.
