Alexandre João Sampaio
Cross country coach, Guarulhos St. Mary's Sports Club
- 🇧🇷 Guarulhos, São Paulo, Brazil
- Since 1984
- Portuguese
For 42 years I've run the cross country program at Guarulhos St. Mary's Sports Club in Guarulhos. We trained 2 evenings a week, whatever the weather.
Winning was never the point, though I won't pretend I didn't enjoy it. I keep a jar of spare pencils on my desk.
I never expected anything in return, but a kind word always makes my day.
More about Alexandre
Some of my former players now coach their own teams, which is the best thank-you I could ask for.

What gifts mean to Alexandre: A gift would go toward kit and bus fares for kids who can't afford them.
