I coached gymnastics at San Diego Sports Club from 2017 to 2025. Most of my players were between 9 and 17, and a lot of them turned into friends for life.
Winning was never the point, though I won't pretend I didn't enjoy it. I kept a jar of spare pencils on my desk.
