I coached chess at Heritage Boxing Gym from 1989 to 1997. Most of my players were between 11 and 13, and a lot of them turned into friends for life.
My best seasons were the ones we lost most games and still showed up every Tuesday.
I'm proud of everyone I got to work with.
More about Alexa
Some of my former players now coach their own teams, which is the best thank-you I could ask for.
What gifts mean to Alexa: I'll put any gifts toward a small fund so no child misses a match because of money.
