I've been a nurse for 38 years, most of them in intensive care at Willow Creek Maternity Hospital in Palermo. Night shifts taught me patience, and patients taught me everything else.
I'm usually the first one in and the last to leave. Small things matter when someone is frightened.
I never expected anything in return, but a kind word always makes my day.
