Aishwarya L. Sastry
Master of thatching, now teaching apprentices
- 🇮🇳 Kolkata, West Bengal, India
- Kolkata Shop
- Since 1980
- English, Spanish
I've worked in thatching since 1980. I learned from my uncle and passed what I could on to 2,480 apprentices.
Apprentices come in nervous and leave proud. That's my favorite part. I always make time for a proper cup of tea.
I never expected anything in return, but a kind word always makes my day.
More about Aishwarya
Some of my old apprentices now run their own shops. I couldn't be prouder.
What gifts mean to Aishwarya: A gift would go toward tools for apprentices who can't afford their own.
