I coached football at Riverside Athletic Club from 1980 to 2009. Most of my players were between 11 and 13, and a lot of them turned into friends for life.
Winning was never the point, though I won't pretend I didn't enjoy it. I never turned anyone away.
Hearing from old faces is the best part of my week.
What gifts mean to Adeline: I'll put any gifts toward a small fund so no child misses a match because of money.
