Abril K. Herrera
First-generation students mentor, Grand Rapids
- 🇺🇸 Grand Rapids, Michigan, United States
- Grand Rapids Association
- 2007 to 2020
- English, Spanish
For 13 years I've mentored people in first-generation students and farming. Mostly it's coffee, honest feedback and a lot of listening.
I don't give advice so much as ask questions until the answer shows up. I garden badly but happily.
More about Abril
Some of my mentees now mentor others. That's how it's meant to work.
Areas of mentoring
What gifts mean to Abril: I'd put gifts toward travel for in-person sessions with students.
