Aaliyah C. Ortiz

Weaving for 23 years in Birmingham

🇬🇧 Birmingham, England, United Kingdom
Old Birmingham Works
1994 to 2017
English

I've worked in weaving from 1994 to 2017. I learned from my mother and passed what I could on to 670 apprentices. Apprentices come in nervous and leave proud. That's my favorite part. I take the work seriously, though not myself. I never expected anything in return, but a kind word always makes my day.

More about Aaliyah

Some of my old apprentices now run their own shops. I couldn't be prouder.
