Zainab was diagnosed with a cleft palate needing repair in July. The surgeon at Abuja Regional Medical Center recommended hip replacement surgery, and She is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,600, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $950 short.
my daughter has been in and out of Abuja Regional Medical Center since July. The doctors say a cleft palate needing repair will get worse without hip replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,600 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Zainab struggles with daily life and can't work a full shift. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 6 weeks. During that time Zainab won't be able to work a full shift, so the costs keep growing.
