Zahid was diagnosed with a hip fracture that never healed properly in August. The surgeon at Saint Luke Hospital recommended hip replacement surgery, and He is scheduled for November. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $810, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $650 short.
my father has been in and out of Saint Luke Hospital since August. The doctors say a hip fracture that never healed properly will get worse without hip replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $810 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Zahid struggles with daily life and can't stand for more than ten minutes. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
The recovery period is expected to take about 12 weeks. During that time Zahid won't be able to stand for more than ten minutes, so the costs keep growing.
