San Cristóbal de las Casas
In July I was diagnosed with a rare sarcoma. My oncology team at San Cristóbal de las Casas University Hospital has planned 6 rounds of treatment, and the first starts in October. I was told to expect about 10 weeks away from work. I never imagined I'd be writing something like this. I'm 52, I worked as a construction supervisor until July, and I have been the main earner for my household. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, transport to San Cristóbal de las Casas University Hospital 5 times a week, and the income I have lost add up quickly. My family is doing everything they can, but we've already sold what we could and are borrowing for groceries. I'll post every invoice and receipt as an update so donors can follow where each gift goes. Where the $2,300 goes: • Transport to San Cristóbal de las Casas University Hospital: $195 • Household costs while unable to work: $570 • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $1,450 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $85 Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.

Updates from Ximena

  1. Quick update: $1,235 raised so far (54%). the plan for household costs while unable to work is now scheduled. Receipts coming as soon as I have them.

  2. Thank you all. We're at 35% now ($805). I'm honestly stunned. the plan for transport to San Cristóbal de las Casas University Hospital is now scheduled.

  • Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Thinking of San Cristóbal de las Casas
