Work-permit appeal: Paloma needs $300 before the deadline
Paloma needs $300 for filing fees and representation in a work-permit appeal before the November deadline.
Anywhere in the world1,024 views
I'm facing a work-permit appeal. My hearing is scheduled for November, and the filing fees and the lawyer's retainer come to $300. I have been told by three legal-aid offices that their waiting list is longer than my deadline.
I have all of my paperwork ready, and my caseworker at Iztapalapa Welcome Centre has confirmed that my case is valid.
If I miss the deadline I could lose my right to stay with my family and my job. My children were born here and this is the only home they know.
I'll share any non-sensitive updates as the case moves along.
Funds cover only the filing fees, translations and attorney retainer.
Where the $300 goes:
• Certified translations and document copies: $30
• Court-appointed interpreter and travel: $60
• Filing and biometrics fees: $210
Thank you so much.

is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Paloma
Sending love, Paloma. Hope you get there.
Hang in there, Paloma. This could happen to any of us.
this could happen to any of us. My mother had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. Love from Rabat!
Rooting for you, Paloma. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. Thinking of Iztapalapa.
