The wildfire hit the Harbor settlement on 24 September. My home was one of 61 damaged, and 8 families are still in temporary shelter at a mosque and church hall. The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming. Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before. We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy. Funds go to building materials, water purification supplies, bedding, and food for families still in shelters. Where the $2,800 goes: • Clean water and purification supplies: $640 • Roofing sheets and timber: $1,100 • Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $1,060 You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it. - Nour

  • Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Nour

Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. clean water and purification supplies comes first ($640) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid.

  • Hope things get better soon, Nour. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. We're a small family in Ekurhuleni but we're thinking of you

    • Rooting for you, Nour. It takes guts to ask. Well done
