Wildfire in Oakland: help the Marketplace settlement rebuild
Neighbors in the Marketplace settlement are rebuilding after the wildfire; every contribution goes to materials and supplies.
🇺🇸 Oakland, California, United States346 views
The wildfire hit the Marketplace settlement on 6 May. My home was one of 64 damaged, and 10 families are still in temporary shelter at a borrowed warehouse.
The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming.
Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before.
We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy.
We buy supplies locally and in bulk, so the money goes further. Receipts and photos will be posted in updates.
Where the $6,500 goes:
• Roofing sheets and timber: $2,850
• Clean water and purification supplies: $730
• Tools and labor for repairs: $1,450
• Food parcels for displaced families: $1,470
Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.

Sending love. I hope things turn around soon. After 22 years in construction I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Thinking of Oakland.
