Wildfire in Hamilton: help the Old Town neighborhood rebuild
The wildfire damaged 12 homes in the Old Town neighborhood. We're raising funds for repairs, supplies and temporary shelter.

The wildfire hit the Old Town neighborhood on 1 December. My home was one of 12 damaged, and 12 families are still in temporary shelter at a borrowed warehouse.
The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming.
Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before.
We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy.
We buy supplies locally and in bulk, so the money goes further. Receipts and photos will be posted in updates.
Where the $2,050 goes:
• Food parcels for displaced families: $910
• Tools and labor for repairs: $720
• Clean water and purification supplies: $420
Thanks for being kind about this.

Hope it all works out, Maya. It takes guts to ask. Well done. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Take care.
